You're Paying Too Much

While this report (for it can't be considered a book)has an interesting vivew on the pineal gland this book is too expensive for what you get. You can find all this information online for free.

The report is so short (6 pages) that most of this so called book is blank pages (14 pages) so that they can put it in book form. They tell you they have to do this in order to be able to publish it in book form. Another interesting thing is that the pages are numbered in the 300s so this is obviously and excerpt or chapter from a book.

Absolutely not worth the money!!!!

Not a book.

If you are expecting a book, then you'd be disappointed when you recieve an article that does not take up half of the amount of pages used (there were about 15 blank pages, good for notes, I guess). I recommend the material, since Manly P. Hall's essays are very obscure. Just get a used/cheap copy and you'll be set. Don't bother paying $12.00 bucks for an article.

Really liked this book, great insight, well reasearched

I have to admit that I'm a big fan of Tesla and Elon Musk. I thought I already knew everything there was to know about Tesla. I picked up this book while on holidays as some kind of, as I thought, lite reading.
I was really surprised by the detail and the depth of research that the author has put in while writing this book. I particularly enjoyed some of the technical descriptions of the physics behind the batteries. Surely these won't qualify you to take over the CTO job at Tesla but give you a better understanding of how Tesla and other EV's work.
The only problem that I would see with this kind of book is that the Tesla story is pretty much still being written in front of our eyes so the book might be 'old news' in a relatively short time - unless the author makes the effort to periodically update it with the latest and greatest from the California boys.

Even though I'm completely immersed in the EV industry, I learned a lot about Tesla from reading this book. It is very comprehensive. All of the direct quotes from the company's leaders give a fascinating insight into their decision making process.

I'm often annoyed when I read news outlets falsely compare Tesla to other "tech" companies. This book does an excellent job at highlighting what makes Tesla so unique. It's an incredible success story.

Truly enjoyed reading this book, it satisfied my curiosity about Tesla's history so far

This book has been a real pleasure to read, from the first chapters recalling the early EVs (from the times of horse carriages) to the latest struggles of Tesla around dealership issues in the US. I had been curious for a while about the other persons participating in the Tesla adventure beyond Elon Musk, the book brought me facts and stories around them. It relates the glorious and less glorious moments, with a wealth of quotes and sources for those who want to dig deeper. The only frustrating thing about the book is the fact that it ends while the story is still going on full speed in real life... After finishing the book, I just have to continue following the journey through Twitter & co...

About the Author
Born in New York City, Janet Belsky always wanted to be a writer but was also very interested in people. After receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, she deferred to her more practical and people-loving side and got her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Chicago. Janet spent her thirties in New York City teaching at Lehman College, CUNY, and doing clinical work in hospitals and nursing homes. During this time, she wrote one trade book, Here Tomorrow, Making the Most of Life After 50, got married, adopted a child and, with the publication of the first undergraduate textbook in the psychology of aging, began what turned into a lifelong developmental science textbook writing career. In 1991, Janet moved to Tennessee with her family to write and teach undergraduate courses in psychology at Middle Tennessee State University. After her husband died in 2012, Janet returned to Chicago to construct a new life. Following her optimally-aging plan to get a rigorous classical education, Janet enrolled in the Master’s Program in Liberal Arts at the University of Chicago (a beginning graduate student again at the U of C, after 45-plus years!). Still, she remains committed to her life passion—exciting readers in the marvelous human lifespan through this book.

Great read, naturally captivating

As an average college student attending an online university (CMU), I found this book to be the best psychology text I have ever read.

-Easy to read
-Explains concepts well
-Uses real world examples
-From the heart (author tries to relate to reader as much as possible)
-Interesting subject, naturally : )
-The writing style keeps your attention, and isn't "boring reading"
-Self-quiz questions, with answers at the end of each chapter
-Vocabulary words are not overwhelming, unlike some other texts I have read from
-Chapter summaries

Overall my experience with this book was fantastic and I learned a whole lot from taking the course that utilized this text.

This is a great introductory book to psychology and human development!

Overview:
I loved this book! I am a psych major, and this book is a great way to introduce you to the field. Bel sky does a fantastic job presenting this material in a chronological order. As the chapters in this book progress, it gradually tells you the psychology behind human beings as they age from infancy up until death. All key terms are boldfaced and easy to find, and there are lots of resources inside of the book you can use to test your knowledge. This book was truly a pleasure to read and is what initially got me addicted to psychology. I am now a graduate student on my way to be a mental health specialist (i.e. therapist) and I have carried much of the knowledge in this book with me throughout my entire academic life.

Great textbook!!

I read this book for my psychology class. What a great textbook. The author gives so many great examples and the topics are discussed in an easy to understand way. After reading the final chapter in the book, I just had to write this review because I enjoyed reading this book. You can really get absorbed in all of the topics. I like the way the book is organized and how Author Belsky gives opposing viewpoints. She also treats all cultures with respect, and you can glean that she is a compassionate human being. Textbooks are usually impersonal, but she gives personal examples, as well, which adds to the book's appeal.

Excellent Book - Passed FPGEE 21 years after graduation

I have passed the FPGEE exam (September 2015). I have never written a big review like this. The main purpose of this review is to share my honest opinion about the book, The APhA Complete Review for the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination and explain the exam pattern to new test takers. I did my Pharmacy course from 1990 - 1994. After a long journey through rough roads, I decided to become a pharmacist in USA to serve as a bridge between physicians and patients (Not to be served but to serve :). If you have lost so many years after your Pharmacy course - Don't give up. I have carefully prepared for FPGEE by using APHA. Here I am briefing about the book and the exam pattern in addition to how to prepare and score well in this exam.
The best part of this book:
1. This book is designed in such a way graduates from foreign nations can understand and follow. This book is organized as follows.
First section – Basic Biomedical Sciences – 1-7 Chapters – You may expect 40 questions;
Second section – Pharmaceutical Sciences – 8 – 16 – You may expect 75 questions;
Third section – Chapters 17- 24 – Social, Behavioral and Administrative Pharmacy Sciences – You may expect 55 questions
Finally, Clinical Sciences – Chapters 25 – 34 – You may expect 80 questions.
In addition, it has the list of normal laboratory values to common drug interactions. As you all know the total no of questions is 250.
2. It is compiled with lots of easy points to be memorized and remembered. Each and every chapter has some practice questions. Study at least one chapter a day and take a test with honesty. Don’t practice speed-read or just scan this book. It may not work. Each and every line is important. I would prefer to take notes while studying and certainly it will help you while you are revising this book.
3. Spend 3-5 hours a day for at least 3 - 4 months. Try to understand and revise several times before your exam.
4. Answering multiple choice questions: While taking the exam don’t see the answer first. Read the question two times and recall the answer then search for the suitable answer from the choices. Eliminate the wrong answers and find the right choice. Furthermore, I have followed the elimination method also. In this review whatever I have followed I am sharing with everyone. Hope it helps you to study well and pass the exam.
5. Make a plan for your study – In your calendar write the things to be done from your syllabus (blue print) and stick on to the plan.
6. Don’t spend too much time in watching YouTube videos. Because by the end of the day you may not remember what chapter you have studied. The following website may be beneficial. (...)

I would strongly recommend this book as your primary study book. In addition, for Pharmacology part I have studied Lippincott Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology and for the calculation part I have studied Pharmaceutical Calculations by Howard C. Ansel. Finally I have used quizlet also for revising biochemistry part.
Don't worry... You will score well.. Let us use the rest of our life to help others.

If you want to pass your FPGEE ..this is THE book

If you want to pass your FPGEE. this is the book !!
I passed my FPGEE reading this book. The chapters are concise and to the point. The exercise at the back of each chapter helps a lot. Additionally, the summary of the chapter helps.
The chapter on clinical science and management are what you need to know for passing the test.

However, this book is NOT enough for pharmacology/medchem, you have to supplement that from lippencott or katzung (that has good med chem)
Also, for calculations this book isn't enough, you should refer to naplax review, or mannan.

other than that I find that this book is essential for passing the FPGEE.

good luck for anyone taking the exam !!

Unsurprising ways to die

I bought this book on the strength of the amazing praise for it below. I can only think that the reviewers who laughed themselves sick over it must lead severely humor-deprived lives. While there are a few clever ideas here, all too many are trite, humdrum, and obvious, like an explorer being cooked in a cannibal tribe's pot. Like running into the back of a stopped bus on your bicycle. Like being in an elevator when the cable snaps. You might consider saving your money on this one. I wish I had.

As another reviewer said;this book can be read in about 15 minutes;but it can leave you thinking for a long time.
Some of these cartoons are hilarious,some are just plain dumb,some are obvious,some are obscure,some are realistic,some are far-fetched,some show great adventure,some are obvious,some make us feel lucky,some suggest just rewards,some are even sad;but one thing is certain,the outcome is always final.
So,now that you've read it;what do you do with it? The first thought is to pass it on---but hold on there!!
This book has great potential for further enjoyment.Besides,what can be more enjoyable than an unpleasant way to die---unless it was you,
Here are some suggestions that come to mind(having a warped mind is never a deterrent).

1 Find a quiet place,and sit down and compose a caption for each
cartoon.
2 Write an epitaph for the gravestone of the victim.
3 Have a copy handy when you visit your Doctor in case he has the
"real bad news" for you;and tell him "That isn't in the book;does
that mean it is not supposed to be unpleasant?"
4 Leave a copy at the Funeral Parlour.It might help some mourner
feel that things could have been even worse.
5 Send it to someone who is always sick and complaining ,with a note
saying,"Now's your chance,better take your exit now than wait till
something else even worse happens to you".

If none of these suggestions don't suit you;dont fret,you can probably come up with something even better---the possibilities are endless.

Endless laughter, long after the book was looked at!!!!!

I first saw this book in my spanish class in high school. The owner handed it to me and just sat back and watched as I broke out in laughter with every page I turned. That day in class was very quick compared to the usual hum-drum of day to day monotony. I didn't want that book to end ever. I liked it so much that I decided to go out and buy one for myself. That was 6 years ago, and the book is sitting right next to me by my computer. I still laugh every time I look at it! The book itself is now in shambles, with every page out of order and some missing, because I flipped through it so much!
You know, I wish there was a website that had his material on it, because I'm almost positive that Mr. Fleisher has come up with several new pictures that haven't been published.

About the Author
Jack Vance, born John Holbrook Vance in 1916, was one of the greatest masters of fantasy and science fiction. He was the winner of many awards for his work and career: the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement. Among his awards for particular works were the Hugo award in 1963 for "The Dragon Masters", in 1967 for "The Last Castle", and in 2010 for his memoir "This is Me, Jack Vance!" He won a Nebula Award in 1966 for "The Last Castle". He won the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1990 for "Lyonesse: Madouc". He also won an Edgar for the best first mystery novel in 1961 for "The Man in the Cage." Vance published more than 60 books in his career, sometimes under pseudonyms. Among them were 11 mystery novels, three of them as Ellery Queen. He wrote some of the first, and perhaps best, examples of "planetary adventures," including a novel called" Big Planet". His Dying Earth series were among the most influential fantasy novels ever written, inspiring both generations of writers, and the creators of Dungeons and Dragons.
Vance s series from Tor include "The Demon Princes", "The Cadwal Chronicles", "The Dying Earth", "The Planet of Adventure", and "Alastor". Vance s last novels were a series of two: "Ports of Call" and "Lurulu."
Jack Vance was a sailor, a writer, an adventurer, a music critic, and a raconteur. He died in May 2013.

Visit Tschai for only a handful of sequins...

Straight-up Planetary Romance by the guy who pretty much invented it. The four novels herein comprise one of Jack's most solid efforts. Swashbuckling adventure with just enough depth the round out the flavor, the Planet of Adventure novels (THE CITY OF THE CHASCH, THE SERVANTS OF THE WANK, THE DIRDIR, THE PNUME) detail the adventure of marooned Adam Reith as he tries to return to Earth. Four alien races inhabit Tschai, only one native, and all dominate the various breeds of human also present. Reith is something of a philosophical problems for his fellow humans, however; his existence refutes the religious and cultural dogma of many of the humans he encounters.

Vance does some of his best work in POA creating convincingly alien aliens. The Dirdir and Pnume, particularly, will stay with you. If you want something more modern and mature than the Barsoom novels of Burroughs, Tschai is the planet for you.

One Man against a World.

Vance's best work. There are portions of commentary that startle the reader with their application to real life.
For example, "I never dispute other people's opinions of myself" said Reith.
Dordolio was a man Reith found impossible to take seriously.
An incense stick fell to the floor where it began to smolder. Reith picked it up and replaced it on the tray. "Why do you do that"? asked Helsse in sardonic wonder. "You must supply your own answer", answered Reith.
There are many similar gems, including exquisite, longer exchanges between man and aliens that spotlight the inherent cultural differences between two species. Vance has a wonderful skill at presenting to the reader such matters with detail, and even humor.

Planet of Adventure is a series of four novels: City of the Chasch, Servants of the Wankh, The Dirdir, and the Pnume. Each one of these names refers to one of the alien races residing on the planet. This series is my most recent reading of Vance - I have read probably about 20 Vance novels altogether so far - and it is an outstanding series. Although not quite as rich and fulfilling as my favorite series - the Cadwal Trilogy - it comes close. There is a hero and his two companions - all three are honest, loyal, and morally upright .... in a landscape of characters, both alien and human, consisting of scoundrels, cheats, or flat out evil individuals: everyone looking out for their own interests. Not only is an interesting plot, but Vance always creates imagery: certain images from this series of books will stick in my mind for a long time to come: the 10-foot tall stranger creature the Phude lurking around in its cloak and hat, playing tricks on unattentive characters, or worse, dismembering them. Like with a lot of Vance, these books are not for the faint-hearted - there is a substantial amount of blood and gore, or disturbing images. But that's one of the things that makes Vance, Vance. The only thing I don't like is the title of the series: "Planet of Adventure" is a childish title which makes it seem like we're dealing with simple pulp science fiction, which is far from the case. Better would have been a more thoughtful title that reflects the true nature of the series. If my book reviews were for sci-fi only, I would give this series five stars.

About the Author
BRETT N. STEENBARGER, PhD, is Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, where he also serves as the Director of Student Counseling. Dr. Steenbarger has published over fifty peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters on topics related to brief therapy, including standard reference entries in The Psychologist's Desk Reference and the Encyclopedia of Psychotherapy. He teaches techniques of counseling and psychotherapy to graduate students in counseling, doctoral students in clinical psychology, and residents in psychiatry. An active trader who conducts his own statistical market modeling research, Dr. Steenbarger has written feature columns for MSN's money site (www.MoneyCentral.com), many of which are archived at www.greatspeculations.com.

Read this book!

This is a ridiculously good trading book. I should know; I’ve read well over a hundred of them. I’m very surprised it doesn’t have more than 4 stars. If you are a trader and you’re considering reading this book, do. I strongly recommend not even getting it at the library, but instead buy yourself a copy so that you can mark it up as you read. The author is a psychologist, and quite obviously a good one, and also a trader. By trader, I mean a real trader, not some guy that dabbles in the markets because he’s always had more money than he knows what to do with. And if him being a good psychologist and a real trader doesn’t make you want to read the book, then I can’t help you. I’ve read at least 3 other books by people that were both traders and psychologists and I got more from this author and enjoyed it more also. I’ve read another of his books also and I will be reading all of his books in due time.

An in-depth look at trading psychology

There are a lot of books these days about trading and trading psychology. It's great to have so much selection but it's getting harder to make a choice about which one's to read. I decided to let the reader's reviews guide me this time and they didn't steer me wrong.
I appreciated the way the author uses profound insights that he has gained as a trader and leveraged his experiences as a psychologist to create vivid examples. I found many of the ideas to be extremely useful and applicable to my methods and the writing style keeps the information very interesting.

a fascinating trip that will help you in all areas of life

The Psychology of Trading is one of those books where you will make a lot of discoveries about yourself and about your life, if you are paying attention, that all tie into trading.

Steebarger is a psychologist specializing in "brief therapy" and also an active trader. The book has chapters that discuss an in-depth story of a patient, and draw lessons from that story about life, cognition, and trading.

It is an awesome book. I have read Douglas and I have Ari Kiev's book which I will read one of these days, but I can't see how it can top Steenbarger's.

Steenbarger says that we have many personalities, and he shows you how you can identify which personality is doing what, and trigger the "Observer" in you, a part of you that is watching and that can see the truth of what you are doing and why you are doing it. This isn't as Zen as it sounds. And Steenbarger has technique after technique in each chapter, so it isn't a bunch of generalizations and observations.

The first technique (which I have done for some months now and read that Larry Connors and Linda Raschke also do and you probably do too) is to keep a detailed trading journal with your thoughts, feelings, what is happening, why you are taking a trade, etc.

The second technique is to excercise in the morning (he does stretching and some calisthenics) and then talk out loud and explain each of your trading plans. Something about talking out loud and explaining your plans lets your brain process differently and he says you can identify what is really good, find holes and see potential traps or things you haven't thought through.

I am on the fourth chapter and I just love this book.
