He graduated from University College London in 2002 and completed basic surgical training before joining the Norwich radiology training scheme in 2008. William Bugg is a fi nal year radiology registrar at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. He graduated from Imperial College London in 2002 and completed basic surgical training before joining the Norwich radiology training scheme in 2008. His subspecialty areas of interest are gastrointestinal and musculoskeletal radiology. Catherine A Johnson is a senior fellow in radiology at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. She graduated from Imperial College London in 2002. Aft er completing her basic surgical training, she trained as a radiologist in East Anglia and London. She completed her radiology training in 2013. Her subspecialty areas of interest are oncology, genitourinary, and head and neck radiology.

Great Resource when Preparing for the Oral Board Exam!

The book is very handy resource that presents a huge amount of content in a concise manner, making it easy to read and comprehend. It provides a great number of mnemonics to help with memory recall and highlights important areas to note for the board exam. In addition, the book is filled with great images, that serve to reinforce the messages and present the content visually, aiding with your memory recall.

I would highly recommend this book to all trainees in radiology whether you are initially starting in this area or preparing for the Oral Board exam - it helped me get through it big time!

Note, this book looks to be written by someone in the UK, but is also applicable to the Oral Board exam here in the US.

Grade 5–7—Grk, a small white dog with black eyes, finds Tim Malt near Tim's London home, setting into motion a series of fantastic, heroic, often fast-paced and sometimes humorous adventures. Grk belonged to Natascha Raffifi, the daughter of Stanislavia's ambassador to England. When a cruel dictator takes control of this small, mountainous country in Eastern Europe, the Raffifis are arrested and returned to their homeland. Tim's parents will not let him keep the dog, and so he sets out to find its owner. His ingenuity gets him from England to Stanislavia, where he is propelled into action that ultimately reunites Grk with Natascha and her brother, Max, and results in their escape from prison. Some characters are caricatures; many are likable and move the events quickly if implausibly to a satisfying resolution. Max, in particular, is used to insert occasional political commentary that seems to foreshadow his future. By novel's end, the children and Grk settle in with the Malts in London, with the promise of another adventure in which the murder of Max and Natascha's parents will be avenged.—Maria B. With workaholic parents, 12-year-old Tim Malt is often alone in his London home playing computer games. Then he finds Grk, the dog that belongs to the Stanislavian ambassador's family. Tim soon learns that the family has returned to its county, which is now under the rule of a despot. Taking brave but drastic action, Tim flies with Grk to Stanislavia and learns the ambassador and his wife are dead and the children, Natascha and Max, are in prison. Soon Tim is embroiled in wild events and political chaos. Despite some stock characters, this is fast paced and entertaining. The author-narrator maintains a presence a la Lemony Snicket, interjecting satiric, sometimes thought-provoking commentary on politics and economic privelege, along with warnings of dire events to come. Occasionally implausible and sometimes violent, the novel is still exciting enough to have kids cheering on Tim and Grk. An author interview is appended. Shelle Rosenfeld

Fun AND intelligent!

Grk is one of those rare books that doesn't treat kids like dumbies.

Tim's adventure is fun, interprising, intelligent, whimsical and very satisfying. It's a really good, inventive story, not just a rehashing of Harry Potter or just another depressing magic/vampire/unhappy homelife book. He relies on himself, his own emotional and intellectual resources, and has an adventure 10 times more fun than any vampire has ever had.

Scary stuff happens, but real scary stuff, not stuff made up of darkness and magic. And it's all stuff Tim handles with typical Brit wit and composure, which makes the story even more humorous and exciting.

If your kid is ready for something fun AND intelligent, this is the book for him/her!

No "dad bods" in the C Team!

When you pick up a T.S. Joyce book, shifter or otherwise, you better be prepared to be carried into the story, anticipate every page, and fall in love with the characters. You'll always find humor, bloody tooth & claw action, heart-tugging emotion, and sex scenes so deliciously described you'll squirm in your seat and look around blushing hoping nobody noticed! That's exactly what you'll find here in Jason & Georgia's story, Gray Back Ghost Bear. In this 3rd book of the series we find out what makes Jason Tragor such a broken, damaged bear that he's in this last-chance group of misfits that no other crew will accept. A spunky forest ranger with a fear of bears is his last hope to banish the ghost of his past and in the midst of a deadly confrontation, discovers her place in this family of accepting, loyal and fiercely protective outcasts. I just can't say enough about how thoroughly enjoyable each and every book from this author is. Without hesitation 5 stars!

Damon hires Georgia as the Forrest Ranger to help him rid the Forrest of poacher. Georgia is scared of Grizzly bears because,she had a out with them when she was in Alaska. When she pulls up to Grayland trailer park she notices Jason bringing out a plate full of raw steaks and talking to thin air. When she gets out of the jeep she's attracted to Jason. Jason has a past of his own. His maker and mate Tessa marked him than left him and died. Jason sees her ghost everywhere haunting him. This is a great story. You need to read the other books in this series to truly understand it. You will not be disappointed. I couldn't put my kindle fire down till I was done .

I never ever thought I would love a series so much...

When I first saw one of the lumber jack were-bear books, I thought the concept must be goofy. But all of T.S. Joyce's Bear books are simply wonderful. There is a sweetness to the H/h's that is irresistible. There is a true conflict in each that is satisfactorily resolved, super smexy scenes, likeable and relateable heroines, Alpha males who are not jerks (and are super smexy themselves!), believable world-building.... I could go on and on!!!

I cannot recommend these more. Start with the Ashe Crew books, then read the Grey Backs. You'll thank me later. :)

Grade 3-6-A unique book that combines the words of a renowned African-American poet laureate and the primitive, modern paintings of a young Haitian-American artist. With lines of verse that shout exuberantly from each page, a young voice rails against any and all things that mean to do her harm. Whether they are "Shadows on the wall/ Noises down the hall" or even "Mean old Mother Goose/Lions on the loose"-to one and all she responds- "they don't frighten me at all." In the middle, the pace and intensity quicken as "I go boo/Make them shoo/I make fun/Way they run." Despite the scary things around her, the poet's determined courage remains. The art provides a jolting counterpoint to the optimistic words, reflecting a dark, intense vision. Violent splashes of color bleed and drip one into another, and white letters are scratched into black backgrounds. Stark figures with grotesque features face off against one another. Symbols such as arrows, birds, crowns, and letters emphasize the artist's anger and sense of irony. The choice of the paintings, taken as they were from an extant body of work, give levels of meanings to a poem already strong with images of its own. A powerful exploration of emotion and its expression through the careful blend of words and art.

Both poet and artist confront our archetypal fears, out there and in our nightmares ("Panthers in the park / Strangers in the dark / No, they don't frighten me at all"). Fear is answered with dancing energy and daring imagination and laughter ("Mean old Mother Goose / Lions on the loose / They don't frighten me at all"). Basquiat's work has the directness of street art, with a bold combination of magic realism and abstract geometric shapes--sometimes Picasso, sometimes African mask, sometimes child's scribble. Also included are long, excellent biographical sketches of Angelou and Basquiat. "Life Doesn't Frighten Me at All" was the title poem for a popular YA anthology edited by John Agard (1990). 2-3 year olds may find it a tiny bit frightening but love it nonetheless

i see this more as an art book for kids. and a show off piece for parents........
i am not sure the imagery and the poem resonates with kids the way one would hope. that said..... two incredible artists showcased on this type of platform really is lovely.

great for kids

My friend has a son who said everything scares him so for his Christmas gift I got him this book and I am so glad that I did. Not only is the book beautiful but after reading and rereading the book he says that he is no longer afraid of anything. His confidence has definitely grown just from reading this book. Plus he reads it all the time. Definitely a very happy with this purchase.

Wonderful Poetry & Art!

This is a wonderful edition of a Maya Angelou story-etic poem; great fun to read aloud, and can be energetically enjoyed by a young child. The pictures generate frequent pauses for discussion, adding strongly to the stories liveliness. It may appear to be a bit pricey, but it becomes a book that will generate requested future readings.

Excellent, engaging book

I read Pamela Redmond Satran's "Babes in Captivity," and enjoyed it, but I thought this was even better. For one thing, the plot was much tighter, and filled with fun twists and surprises.

This is the story of Alice Green, a dowdy, 44-year-old housewife in suburban Homewood, New Jersey. Alice has always looked young for her age, though she hasn't bothered with her appearance for a long time. She's married to a dentist, who leaves her for his hygienist. Then Alice's daughter leaves for Africa, leaving Alice alone.

In the year following her husband's departure, Alice whips herself into shape by working out for a couple of hours a day. When she tries to re-enter the workforce, she is less successful. She tries to get a job at the publishing house where she worked before she had a child, but they dismiss her as dried-up and middle-aged.

After Alice tells a gypsy that she wants to be "younger," Alice's best friend gives her a makeover. With her gray hair dyed blonde and her newly fit body on display in tighter, more fashionable clothes, Alice decides to give the work thing another try. She returns to Gentility after taking all the dates off her resume and omitting the years she spent as a stay-at-home mom. She also goes to a bar and meets a young man named Josh.

What makes the novel work is not only the riveting plot, but Satran's careful look at the ups and downs of being young and old. She doesn't portray youth as a perfect haven, but instead shows how the "young" Alice must deal with an overbearing boss who doesn't take her seriously. She shows the pressure that the young women at the publishing company feel to get married and have kids before they're 35.

Alice's relationship with Josh is a little less plausible. After he sees her naked, he still thinks she's 29, and can't tell that she had a kid! It's hard to believe that after having a child she wouldn't have stretch marks or something.

However, Satran follows Alice's deception mostly smoothly from beginning to end, and it makes for very engaging reading.

Seems implausible, but the story works

Alice Green has had a really bad year. Her husband left her for his much younger dental hygienist, her mother died, and her daughter has dropped out of college and joined the Peace Corps. Despite having the luxury of looking younger than her 44 years, Alice has never really taken advantage of it. Her pal Maggie helps her enhance those looks to start the new year off to a good start. Soon, she catches the eyes of many younger suitors at a New York City bar.

Armed with her new appearance, and newly acquired confidence, Alice has changed places with herself, so to speak; she is living the life she lived prior to settling down and getting married. Suddenly, the job she applied for months earlier and was considered too old for is hers for the taking.

But now Alice is finding it difficult to live her lie, as she grows ever closer to her new boyfriend Josh, a man young enough to be her son. Josh assumes she is an older woman - he is thinking 29 - he is just now aware of how much older she is. As she and Josh delude themselves into thinking that they are a casual couple, both find that they are falling in love, which causes more pressure on Alice's over-burdened nerves, and their seemingly insurmountable 19-year age gap.

"Younger" works not only because of the great writing style of the author, but also because it does not portray either age as ideal - each has its own ups and downs and troubles and triumphs. It is really interesting to see a 40-something woman masquerading as a 20-something woman, and feeling the age discrimination issue from both ends when she is assigned to work for a jealous 30-something who treats her like the child that she thinks she is.

I picked up this book for a couple different reasons.

One, I am 44 years old, just like Alice. Two, people usually think I am much younger than I am. Three, I tend to date younger men who have no idea how old I am when they begin the pursuit (who am I to tell, anyway?) and Four, I liked the first few paragraphs and figured, "Why not try out a new author, I haven't read any novels lately.. so.... Just go for it!"

I wasn't disappointed.

Pamela Redmond Satran creates multi-dimensional, interesting characters in situations the reader can both relate to and want to find out more about as well. I was fascinated (in an odd way!) about the Alice's new best friend, Lindsey... and wondered if young women like her are truly out there? I am guessing yes...

I also enjoyed being a part of Alice's choice making... and the miracles in Maggie's life, too... and regeneration of the relationship between Alice and her daughter.

So yes, there is romance (and unconventional romance, which I appreciate...) there is career, there is friendship, there is parenting... there is art...

A thoroughly enjoyable, engaging read - I will read more of Pamela Redmond Satran's books after discovering this one.

Received outstanding support from Wiley with regards to accessing online resources. Content is up to par with other of Panek's work. Looking forward to his next book (698).

Chapters, expectations, review questions are all reasonable and well organized. The ebook sample only gives a short section on the assessment exam, but I think its a great resource for anyone to use for exam prep.

All highly successful people throughout history have in common that they were extremely energetic.

Where does their energy come from? Eventually most people get tired. How do these historically successful people keep it up, day after day, night after night, year after year? Call it “passion” if you like, but putting a word on it doesn’t really explain it. Why don’t big winners in the game of success get burned out, like most other people?

The top leaders energized other people around them, and got energy from them in return. They were experts at the art of social interaction. They generated emotional energy in their encounters, whether in full-scale meetings or brief conversations.

Caesar and Napoleon were good at conveying calm confidence, keeping people from losing their head under stress. Steve Jobs often riveted the attention of his work groups by insulting them about the quality of their work, but this was just the initiating emotion that got everyone focused.

The book is organized in three parts. Each dissects the life-story of a hugely successful career: Jobs, Napoleon, Alexander the Great. They are interspersed with sidebars on key events in the lives of other historically successful persons. We see how Caesar put down a mutiny of his troops by speaking with just the right tone and timing; and how Caesar by careful observation of what happens in the first phase of a battle was able to create a second-phase strategy that made his army invincible. We examine how Jesus disperses a lynch mob.

We will crack the mystique about genius, and see how some persons get this reputation by micro-techniques that outsiders have no awareness of.

Different personality types can all be successful. By dissecting the key features of how super-successful people interact, and how they built their networks, we will lay out what made them successful. It can be learned: the micro-sociology of success.
