About the Author

She is the senior author of SECONDARY SCHOOL LITERACY INSTRUCTION, 10th Edition; INFORMAL READING INVENTORY, 8th Edition; and TEACHING READING IN TODAY'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, 11th Edition; all published by Cengage Learning.

Sandra Hope Huddleston Smith is an assistant professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and Director of Teacher Education and Rural Services at Tennessee Technological University. She received her M.A. in Special Education from Tennessee Tech in 1981, and a Specialist in Education degree in Reading/Curriculum from Tennessee Tech in 1989.

Textbook for Elementary Ed

This is a wonderful book that teaches prospective teachers how to teach students to read. The information is simply put and easy to read. I like the layout of the book as well.

Useful, though dull and dated

Rented this because I needed it for a class. Delighted to find that I could return it within a month -- since I took a 25-day online class, I was done with the book before I needed to pay anything. Book has some strengths, but gets dull and dated sometimes. Best thing about using this for class: it's indexed on GoogleBooks, and our tests were open-book. So while we couldn't find the answers directly, we could use GoogleBooks to find the page that had the jargon we needed.

About the Author

An award-winning instructor and best-selling author, Elayn Martin-Gay has taught mathematics at the University of New Orleans for more than 25 years. Her numerous teaching awards include the local University Alumni Association’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, and Outstanding Developmental Educator at University of New Orleans, presented by the Louisiana Association of Developmental Educators.

Prior to writing textbooks, Elayn developed an acclaimed series of lecture videos to support developmental mathematics students in their quest for success. It's an Algebra book....at a great price.

It was required for my daughter's class, so I won't review the technical aspects of the book. However, I will say, it was over $140 cheaper than the bookstore was charging for it! Thanks Amazon - a used textbook - especially when it's not one you'll likely keep for a lifetime - is a great deal!

This book is ok. Algebra is not my favorite subject though. There's plenty of practice problems and reviews for the test. Overall I don't think you could find a better algebra book. This book and my teacher are keeping me passing so I am happy with what this book has to offer.

Excellent book in Spanish! This author is a very knowleadgeable person. I think he is from Spain.
Libro excelente para aprender Arduino, muy extenso (como debe ser) y muy abarcador. La información es muy buena, y no tiene que envidiarle a los mejores libros sobre Arduino escritos en otros idiomas. Si usted no sabe mucho inglés u otro de los idiomas en los que se acostumbran a escribir muchos libros acerca del Arduino, este libro será suficiente para convertirse en un experto. Lo recomiendo de manera enfática. El autor debe de escribir una pequeña biografía suya y también debería tener un lugar en línea para el código fuente. No hay errores en esto, el libro es muy bueno. Lo recomiendo.

Compré este libro pensando en que me serviría para complementar mi biblioteca de Arduino. Lamentablemente, me llegó una fotocopia del libro donde las imágenes y figuras se ven borrosas e incluso hay algunas formulas matemáticas que vienen mal escritas, ya que aparecen símbolos en vez de formulas. No me dan ganas de leerlo ya que parece una novela y no un libro técnico.
No compro más en Amazon.

Dr. Jean Carruthers, MD, FRCS (UK), FRCS (C), Diplomate of the American Board in Cosmetic Surgery, Fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Jean Carruthers is a Cosmetic Surgeon and a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC).

Dr. Carruthers has lectured worldwide on a variety of subjects pertaining to cosmetic ophthalmology, including the cosmetic use of the BOTOX® procedure, which she co-founded with her husband, Dr. Alastair Carruthers, in 1987. Since this time, they have remained at the forefront of BOTOX® research, development and education, publishing numerous articles using their data. BOTOX® inhibits nerve impulses in muscles that cause everything from frown lines and wrinkles to sweating. Today, BOTOX® is the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in North America. They are now also researching the cosmetic use of the newest therapeutic neurotoxin, Botulinum type B, commercially produced as MyoBloc.

Dr. Carruthers has published more than eighty peer reviewed scientific articles and twenty-eight scientific book chapters on a variety of topics, including the use of botulinum toxin and soft tissue augmenting agents, aesthetic lasers and cosmetic laser blepharoplasty. She is an International Editor for such publications as Dermatologic Surgery, the Journal of Cosmetic Laser Surgery and the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Alastair Carruthers, M.A., B.M.,B.Ch, FRCP(LON), FRCPC
Dr. Alastair Carruthers is a Cosmetic Dermasurgeon who operates his own clinical practice (Carruthers Dermatology Centre Inc.) in Vancouver, BC. He is also a Clinical Professor of Dermatology with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC).

During his 20 years of practice, Dr. Carruthers has made several major contributions to the field of dermatology. Foremost among these was the use of the BOTOX® procedure in cosmetic applications, a discovery he made with his wife, Dr. Jean Carruthers, in 1987. Since this time, they have been at the forefront of BOTOX® research, development and education, publishing numerous articles using their data. Today, BOTOX®, which inhibits nerve impulses in muscles that cause everything from frown lines and wrinkles to sweating, is the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the world.

Dr. Carruthers has also made significant advances in the area of Tissue Augmentation. These materials, both temporary and permanent, are used to lift and support the structures beneath the skin. In 1998 Dr. Carruthers was the first dermatologist in North America to begin injecting Artecoll. Through the extensive research performed in their Vancouver based facility, Drs. Carruthers continue to have articles published and lecture extensively on these subjects.

With over 100 published articles to his credit, Dr. Carruthers is a member of the Editorial Board of “Dermatologic Surgery”. He is also a member of several national and international associations, including the American Dermatology Association and the Canadian Dermatology Association, where he served as President from 1998 to 1999. In addition, he has been elected Vice President of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
