About the Author
Colin Hansen is Professor and head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Adelaide, Australia and past-President of the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration. He has had extensive industrial experience as a noise and vibration consultant and is also author "Understanding Active Noise Cancellation" and co-author "Engineering Noise Control, which are both also published by Spon Press.

Good resource but has mior problems.

This is a good reference for more indepth study of Sound and Noise studies. There is information in the book that is not found in any general studies and the author brought those to light. It is a pricy book but has it problems.
(1) The book [page 30] refers you to APPENDIX B but that does not exist.
(2) I found occurance that parts of one paragraph were immediately repeated as a new paragraph.
(3) The Figure numbering is off. The text refers you to Fig 1.6(a) should refer you to Fig 1.7(a). This continues long into the book.
The math is a bit intense but the theory and practical problems give you good insite into how sound really works.
A good reference even with these faults.
